Funding Options

Paideia Learning provides support for homeschool families by offering core and elective classes for students in grades BK-12. Our goal is to stand alongside parents as they teach their children.

Families have two enrollment options at Paideia Learning: Howell Enrolled or Self-Pay.

Self-Pay Hybrid Students:

Self-Pay - Families who choose to pay for classes out of pocket are classified as self-pay. Yearly tuition for self-pay hybrid students is $3500 and can be broken into monthly payments. This cost includes all in-person learning for core and elective classes, student curriculum, teacher’s manuals for parents, a schedule for parents to follow when teaching during the at-home days, and online supplemental resources.

Howell Enrolled Hybrid Students:

Howell Students - Families may enroll in the Howell Public School District and attend classes at Paideia Learning. There is no out of pocket cost for Howell Students who take classes through Paideia Learning. Paideia Learning provides a physical copy of curriculum, parent instruction manuals, online student mini-lessons, schedule of assignments, test and projects, and all other material necessary to complete coursework.

Paideia Learning has been fortunate to work with Howell School Board to bring high-quality homeschool curriculum to Livingston County. Our curriculum exceeds state standards, but is scaffolded in a way that allows students to experience success.

Hybrid: HPS covers 100% of the cost of core classes for their full-time students. This includes optional in-person learning twice a week for 15 weeks for core classes, curriculum, teacher’s manuals, online materials and all fees. Howell students are able to take two elective classes once a week for 14 weeks. These optional in-person learning experiences enhance online courses taken through Howell.

Who Can Enroll at Howell?

School of Choice Funding

  • Families residing in Livingston County or a contiguous county (a county that touches Livingston County) are able to enroll with Howell Public Schools through School Choice.

  • Families living in a non-contiguous county must obtain a waiver from their resident school district to attend. Paideia Learning partners with Howell Public Schools (HPS) under their Highlander Virtual umbrella to provide optional learning experiences for HPS students.

IN-person lab

Students registered for the hybrid program can come in-person two days a week for 15 weeks each semester under the guidance of a subject matter expert.

What happens on in-person days? Students will complete math lesson, drills facts through math games, learn to read and write (cursive begins in 1st grade), complete science labs, and hands-on history projects. Older students will engage in discussion and debate, and learn Logic and Rhetoric.

For electives, students are able to choose one of our many non-core classes. In-person classes are exciting and provide a chance for homeschool kids to connect with peers while learning something new. Class lists are available on the Classes/Schedule page.

Virtual Content

HPS enrolled hybrid students are classified by the Michigan Department of Education as full-time virtual students. Learning occurs using both physical books and online resources, which is supplemented by in-person optional learning experiences.
