Overview

Paideia is an educational program dedicated to supporting families committed to the educational of their own children. The job of our teachers and staff is to walk alongside parents and partner with them to provide the best educational opportunities for their unique child. In homeschool, there is no “one size fits all” model. Parents and instructors are able to adjust to develop the strengths and meet the needs of the individual. The in-person days are drop-off, so parents have a chance to refresh and relax.

Hybrid Program

The hybrid learning is a program for students grades DK-10 that combines in-class, at-home, and online learning. Students meet with knowledgeable instructors in-person twice weekly for 15 weeks each semester. Instructors provide a schedule for 36 weeks, which parents follow and implement on the off days. We operate on a 4-day schedule. Online supports are used as a tool to extend student learning.

Onsite Instruction

The day begins with 30 minutes of calisthenics to get the brain working, the blood flowing, and the wiggles out. In-person learning occurs either Mondays from 8:30 - 3:00 and Wednesdays from 8:30 - 2:00 or on Tuesdays from 8:30 - 3:00 and Thursdays from 9:00 - 2:30. Class periods range from 45 minutes to 1 hour and 20 minutes and include engaging, hands-on projects, experiments, instruction, and collaborative learning, which furthers student’s mastery and success in each subject.

At-home Instruction

Parent engagement is central to home education. On the days students do not attend class, families study, explore and learn together. Lesson plans and materials will be provided to the parent and prepared by the in-class instructor. Students will read, complete assignments, watch lessons, and work on projects, as well as participate in parent facilitated lessons.

Online Instruction

Students who receive funding through Howell Schools will also utilize 36 weeks of technological components and online learning with each class. Additionally, supplemental information, tests, learning games, and required assignment submissions will be accessed through an online platform, giving students experience with the growing practice of online learning in higher education. There is no online requirement for self-pay families.
